Hello Everyone, I would like to take a few minutes to talk about being reconciled to God. In 2 Corinthians 5:18 Paul writes: "And all things are of God, who hath reconciled us to Himself by Jesus Christ, and hath given to us the ministry of reconciliation." We may ask ourselves "what does that mean?" Very easliy put, unless you are "in Christ" you are apart from God. You might say; "How can that be?" I'll take a few minutes to explain that.
Sin is the reason we are apart from God. Because the first of mankind (Adam & Eve) chose to disobey God, God cast them out of the garden He had placed them in and cursed the ground (Genesis 3:1-23). Because of sin, death entered the world. The Bible says: "The wages of [SIN] is death;" (Romans 6:23). You see we are all guilty of sin and sin breaks our fellowship with God. This is why we need to be reconciled.
You may ask; "How can I be reconciled?" Well as stated by Paul in 2 Corithians 5:18, by Jesus Christ. If we look to the very next verse, verse 19 says: To wit, that God was in Christ reconciling the world unto Himself, not imputing their trespasses unto them; and hath committed unto us the word of reconciliation. You may not understand why God does not impute their trespasses on them who believe in Christ but the answer is found in verse 21 when Paul said: For He [God] hath made Him [Christ] to be sin for us, who hath knew no sin; that we might be made the righteousness of God in Him.
You may be thinking: "I still don't know what all this means!" well lets look up to verse 17. Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new. You see if you are "in Christ" you are a new creation. All of your sins are forgiven, Jesus paid for them at the Cross. He was sinless yet He died for sin. He purchased you with His shed blood, that you can be reconciled to God. And verse 20 tells us that once we've been reconciled to God we are "ambassadors for Christ." That means we have a great commission to go out and bring this word of reconciliation to others.Right now you can be reconciled to God. Romans 10:9 says: If you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord, and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you shall be saved. (paraphrazing).
